Frequently Asked Questions

Are you providing in-person appointments?

Yes.  Intake appointments are generally scheduled as in-person visits at 1110 SE Alder Street, Suite 301, Portland OR, 97214.  Subsequent visits can occur via telehealth or in-person.  All telehealth visits will be conducted through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth meeting platform.  Please ensure a strong internet connection, as well as a private space for the duration of the appointment.

How do new patients get started?

The first step in establishing care is by completing the form on the Contact page.  Please allow 2-3 business days for a response to submissions.  Next, you will be contacted to set up a free 15 minute consultation phone call during which time we will review your needs and the available resources of Portland Psychiatric Health.  If this practice is unable to meet your needs, you will be provided with suggestions for other clinics in the area.  Otherwise, an intake appointment will be scheduled and you will be directed to complete new patient paperwork through the patient portal.

Do you accept insurance?

Portland Psychiatric Health is currently in-network with Providence, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Moda, and Pacific Source insurance plans.

*Please note, we are unable to see patients insured with Oregon Health Plan.*

If you have out of network benefits, Portland Psychiatric Health can bill your insurance as an out of network provider.  Alternatively, you can pay up-front for services and be provided with an invoice, also known as a “super bill,” for you to submit to your insurance.  Please note all insurance carriers require a psychiatric diagnosis be assigned to a patient in order for reimbursement.

As an additional option, patients can pay out of pocket for services and not involve insurance.

What are the fees for your services?

Each prospective patient will have a free 15 minute phone consultation during which time their needs and clinic availability will be reviewed.  This is required prior to an initial evaluation.

For those wishing to pay out of pocket for services, the following rates apply:

All patients opting to pay out of pocket and not involve insurance will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges prior to any services rendered.  Payments are due at time of service.  Each patient is required to have payment information on file.  The stored payment method will be billed automatically following appointments.

Any appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance will have a fee for $150 assessed to the card on file.  Exceptions may be made for emergencies in isolated cases.  By scheduling an appointment with Portland Psychiatric Health you are consenting to this policy.

Are there services which you do not provide?

At this time the following services are not available:

Letters for emotional support animals

New adult ADHD assessments

   Disability evaluations

Evaluations related to child custody

Evaluations related to appropriateness of returning to work, possessing a firearm, operating a vehicle, etc.

   Court-ordered treatment

Is there any information which will NOT be kept confidential?

Yes.  As required by law, information shared about suspected abuse of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult will be reported to the authorities.  If you are assessed to be at risk for harming yourself or others, this information will be reported to the authorities in order to support your safety and the safety of the public.  Finally, information may be exchanged with other members of your medical care team for the purposes of continuity and safe care.

All other information shared during an appointment or in the patient portal is protected and considered a part of a patient’s medical record.

What’s the best way to be in touch?

Please use the messaging system within the patient portal for communications.  Please note, email sent outside of the patient portal is not a confidential form of communication.
